David has been collecting old photographs of Shrewsbury and Shropshire and researching their history for more than 40 years. As a result he gives slide presentations and leads guided walks around the areas covered. For a more permanent record to share with everyone he has had several books published. We aim to list them all on these pages so that you can purchase relevant copies from your local bookshop, or click the appropriate link to buy online.
TELFORD
RAY FARLOW AND DAVID TRUMPER
David has teamed up again with well known postcard collector Ray Farlow to produce this latest book.Towards the end of the 19th and into the 20th century many enterprising national and local photographers travelled around the country taking thousands of photographs of people, places and events that were turned into postcards. Thankfully many of these cards still survive, tucked away in old albums or stored in attics and at the back of drawers and cupboards. They give us a glimpse of how life was at this time and how things have altered during the last century. The photographs in this book are taken from Ray's unique collection and illustrate the buildings, countryside and the lives of the people who lived in the area long before the new town of Telford was envisaged. David has researched the history behind each image and has put together a most interesting commentary as usual. The result is a fascinating book that is sure to appeal to anyone with an interest in Shropshire and its local history.

TELFORD
DAVID TRUMPER

Telford in Old Photographs (Britain in Old Photographs)
Since 1968 the five towns of Wellington, Oakengates, Dawley, Madeley and Ironbridge, along with smaller villages and hamlets, have been melted together into the new town of Telford. Even so the planners and the local population have done their utmost to preserve the identities of these settlements, some of which pre-date the Norman Conquest. It was an area of great contrast, from the rural character of Wellington in the north to the heavy industrialisation of Coalbrookdale and Ironbridge in the south. Each settlement developed its own unique history and local folklore, which this book has tried to capture.
